made the best empanadas last night. my sister gave me a recipe that she got from Food Network's Paula Dean... i love that woman, even though i can literally feel my arteries hardening when i watch her cook, but she just makes all her food look so yummy. anyway, back to the empanadas... they were AWESOME!!! easy, good, and they reheat perfectly. had them for lunch with my sister today. perfect, perfect.

went to see my niece Ale play vollyball tonight. so fun. (Ale you did GREAT!!!) i kind of miss that time of life. nothing to really worry about aside from homework. but, wow what a wake up call, to see teenie boppers holding hands, kissing, flirting. not a good thing to see when you have little girls. made me feel totally old that i kept wanting to go and split up the little couple and give the girl a talking to. and if that wasn't enough, i'm sitting there talking with my sister in love and i look down and see one of the opposing team's players leaning a little too far forward and her t-back sticking out the top of her pants. SERIOUSLY... T BACK at 12 or 13. What are those parents thinking????? thank God my little ones didn't notice that one.

I think i've got my creative groove back. helped my sis made the CUTEST apron ever. Super easy and made it with left over fabric. the perfect way to use up scraps. i'll post a picture later. i'm thinking i may have to make some more of these.

belle has a nocturnal parade tomorrow. i have been busily sewing away to make her costume. she is to be a very cute bat. too bad a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader isn't considered nocturnal or we would have been all set.

my poor hubby is voiceless... for about a week now he has been silent. well, not completely. i actually think that is the problem. he keeps trying to talk, or yell rather, over the machines at the plant. thus not letting his voice recover. that added to the fact that he is exhausted, adds up to no voice and lots of hot tea. i can hardly wait until Thanksgiving when all of this is behind us and we can finally see each other and relax. the girls of course are none too happy about the fact that daddy has been absent so much lately. tori called him the other day and said, "Daddy I was just calling to invite you to my birthday party okay?" a little strange considering her bday isn't until next summer. silly girl.

Okay, i am off to put my girls to sleep. they had to have a snack after the game you know. then i am off to watch Grey's. I am really hoping that they are getting some nasty emails about how stupid they are making Meredith. Lets all breathe in and breathe out and count to ten every time she acts like an ass, and pray that McDreamy holds on.

Have a good night.

how frustrating is it when you hear McDreamy say words like,
"I want to marry you. I want to have kids with you. I want to build us a house. I want to settle down and grow old with you. I want to die when I'm 110 years old, in your arms. I don't want 48 uninterrupted hours. I want a lifetime..."

and then you have Meredith with that goofy look on her face. You just want to shake the heck out of her until she gets it. this guy is a catch and loves her, and she just doesn't get it. that is enough to make any girls toes curl and she just doesn't get it. totally frustrated that the writers are making her so stupid.

okay, now that i'm done with that... on to my Elipse reviews. as i wrote before, i basically flew through the first book in this series, Twilight. it was soooo good. i just couldn't wait to read the other two. well they didn't disappoint. both New Moon and Eclipse were longer than the first one but i flew through both of them (608 pages and 640 pages respectively), in ONE WEEK!!! i couldn't put it down. i read every chance i had and in the end i was almost sad that i had to finish the final one. the up side is that there is another book in the works and a movie set to be released next year. i highly recommend these books... if you can find them. they are hard to come by.

okay, i am off to watch Evan Almighty with my girls.

Have a great day.

so after last years cry fest, it was "so awesome" like tori says, to see her enjoy herself at her LITTLE OLYMPICS, and not CRY!!! seriously, last year was nothing but tears the entire time. i didn't know what to expect since we had had a rough transition at the beginning of this year, but she did awesome. she participated like a champ and had a smile on her face the whole time. when all was said and done, the first words out of her mouth were,"Mom that was awesome... and did you see, I didn't even cry???" thank goodness for that.

she even got an unexpected surprise guest... her sister who should have been at school but was out "sickie". my belle, my belle. she had been feeling out of sorts, and came home the night before not feeling well. well that turned into a fever which just wouldn't go away. after a dr. visit and lots of drama involving a strep test, blood test and urine test, we found NOTHING!!! so frustrating when that happens. the doctor did do a good job of giving me something to stop my heart a bit. after running the blood test he comes back and tells me that her platelets are low. WHAT!!!! DOES!!! THAT !!!! MEAN!!!! you have to understand that i read my share of blogs, some of which involve some people who have gone through some unfortunate health situations. having worked in the medical environment while i was in college, I was exposed to way too much medical information for my own good. so when I hear things like "low platelets", my mind starts going a hundred and fifty miles an hour. needless to say, i prayed and prayed and prayed all weekend, that her platelets would go up by Monday. Luckily, it was a virus that was causing it and all is good now. But how frustrating is it that a virus could do something like that????

Okay, I am off to make dinner for the little ones.

Have a good evening.

alex has been working so much lately, that the weekends kind of come and go and we don't really have the chance to enjoy them. so today we decided that we were going to have a family afternoon. we got up early and went to church, alex got some work out of the way, and then we were off for an afternoon of golf and go carts. this was the first time the girls had ever played miniature golfs and yeeeeaaaarrrrssss since alex and i had been out there. it was so fun. the girls totally loved it and bella, alex and i even got holes in one. my tori was a determined little golfer. whether it took her three strokes or twenty, by God she was going to get that little ball in that tiny hole. at one point it looked like she was vacuuming with the putter as she dragged the ball across the green. they had such a blast.

we then decided to take them on the go carts. we hadn't been on go carts since we were dating, so this was a total flash back. belle got to go with me and tori went with her daddy. by the way, alex is a total competitor. the heck with waiting for me, he was too into beating everyone else. later he mentioned to me that he got carried away, and that next time he will stay back so that he can just enjoy watching the girls' reactions.

so we're done, exhausted and the girls are ready for bed. one BIG problem... alex couldn't find his phone. no this is a MAJOR problem since this phone right now is basically his life line with work. i'm calling it, and calling it. hoping that we will hear it ring somewhere... but no, no ringing. so we make the trek back to the miniature golf place and go hunting for the phone. LUCKILY we find it at the go carts. of course, I, have to totally rub it in that alex, not I, was the first one to lose his phone. I'm the one who is totally scatter brained, and yet I haven't lost my phone yet. Just had to get that one in there.

okay, i'm off to watch brothers and sisters. love that show.

i finished a 487 page book in less than a week. That is huge for me. I am totally hooked on this saga, and now I see why. I have been hearing that this series of books is being compared to Harry Potter, and I come to find out that it is listed as young adult fiction. Don't know why, but whatever. I LOVED THIS BOOK... so if you haven't read it yet, it would definitely be one of my suggestions.

okay, i am off to have dinner with my hubby and girls and then some ice cream for dessert. mmmmm!!!

have a good evening.

i must remember this... we were watching something on TV the other night, and it showed a girl breaking up with one guy and then later dating another. Tori asks me, "Mommy is that her new Jake?" (Tori talk for boyfriend... don't ask me where that came from.)Yes Tori that is her new boyfriend. "So first she was with the other Jake and she got tired of him and she got another Jake?" Well, I don't think he was a very nice person. "Mommy, I don't want to get married when I grow up." Why not baby? "because it's going to be too hard to choose the right Jake."
